Gates Chili Board of Education seeks candidate for open seat

At its regular business meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 11, the Gates Chili Board of Education will formally accept the resignation of Board Member Nicole Littlewood.

In a message to the community last month, Board President Katie Davis shared the following about Mrs. Littlewood’s time on the board:

“Since first joining the board in July 2021, Nicole has served our district with unwavering dedication and a steadfast commitment to students, staff and families. Throughout her time on the Board, she has generously shared her time and expertise through service on numerous Board committees…Serving on a board of education is a significant commitment, and Nicole has approached that responsibility with integrity, thoughtfulness and a genuine desire to make Gates Chili a stronger school community.”

The Board of Education is now accepting applications to fill Mrs. Littlewood’s vacancy. This appointed term will run through May 2027, with the opportunity for the selected candidate to run for election during the Annual Budget Vote and Board Election in May 2027.

To be considered, applicants must be residents of the Gates Chili Central School District. Interested candidates should email District Clerk Condenessa Brown by 4 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 17, 2026. Applications must include:
  • A brief statement explaining why they are interested in serving on the Board
  • Their full name and home address
  • Relevant experiences or qualifications they would bring to the position
The Board of Education is responsible for establishing policies and overseeing the Superintendent, who leads and manages educational, financial and administrative operations of the district. This is a valuable opportunity for a community member to contribute to the success of Gates Chili students.
