Student parking

Student parking

Driving to school is a privilege reserved for seniors in good standing at Gates Chili High School. Due to limited space, a parking permit is not guaranteed and is subject to approval by grade-level administrators.

Students must meet the following criteria to apply:

  • Hold a valid New York State driver’s license (learners permits are not accepted)
  • Maintain good attendance, academic performance and behavior
  • Demonstrate the Spartan Way: Respect, Responsibility, Hard Work and Compassion

Note: Grade-level administrators reserve the right to deny or revoke parking privileges at any time.

How to Apply

  • Complete the online parking application.
  • Approved students may pick up their parking permit during the first week of school from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Security Office.
  • Students must present a copy of their driver’s license when picking up their permit.

Parking rules and expectations

Parked carsStudents who receive a parking permit must follow these rules at all times:

  • Permits must be properly displayed on the rearview mirror.
  • Students must park only in their assigned spot.
  • Students must arrive to school on time. Excessive unexcused tardiness or absences may result in revocation of parking privileges.
  • Students may not leave school or go to their vehicles during the day without permission from an administrator or security.
  • Car radios must be kept at a reasonable volume, and all posted speed limits must be followed.
  • Lost or stolen permits must be reported immediately to the Security Office.
  • The Gates Chili campus is a drug- and alcohol-free zone. All vehicles on school property are subject to search.

Violations of any parking rules may result in disciplinary action, including the loss of parking privileges and towing of the vehicle at the driver’s expense.

We encourage students and families to review these expectations together before applying. Safe and respectful driving helps maintain a secure and welcoming school environment for all.
